Lamborghini Espada

Lamborghini Espada (1968–1978)

The Lamborghini Espada was designed by Marcello Gandini and tool inspirations from a number of cars, including the Jaguar Pirana and Lamborghini Marzal. For this model, Gandini’s team tapped into the monocoque steel body, with a V12 engine through 24 valves and six Weber side-draft carburetors. When this model was released, most units were available in manual transmissions. But the company made history by introducing the first automatic transmission. When this was tested on the road, the Espada managed to register 245 km/h. More than a thousand Espada vehicles were made, and was considered the most successful from the brand until the Countach was introduced in the market.
