1980 Ferrari Mondial 8

13. 1980 Ferrari Mondial 8

The release of the Ferrari Mondial 8 in 1980 is a validation that the best automakers can also fail in its products. Although at first glance the Mondial 8 was sporty enough, the engine and its overall performance leave much to be desired.

It was fitted with a 3.0-liter alloy DOHC V8 engine that resulted in poor horsepower production, a poorly-selected mechanical fuel injection system, and the interior used cheap plastic materials that you would not normally associate with the Ferrari brand. Although a number of changes and modifications were made on the Mondial 8, these were never enough to reverse the damage done on the Ferrari brand.
