6. Jaguar XJ 220

Jaguar XJ 220

Luxury fused with performance- this is how the Jaguar XJ 220 has been packaged in the market. This packaging is understandable, thanks primarily to the standing of Jaguar as a luxury car manufacturer. But the company pushed the envelope with the development and showcase of XJ 220 in 1988. This was developed thanks to the inspiration generated from the Jaguar cars used in Le Mans of the 1950s and 1960s, and the result was a luxury supercar fitted with V12 engine and all-wheel drive for its concept version and twin-turbocharged V6, and rear-wheel drive for the production units. The result is a Jaguar supercar that briefly held the title of the world’s fastest car in 1992, thanks to a top speed of 343 km/h before surrendering the title to McLaren F1.
