Repairs, corporate actions and consequences
In an effort to address the issue, the company announced on September 29, 2015 that it will refit all 11 million VW vehicles that have been affected by the ‘dieselgate’. The recall order covered vehicles that were fitted with VW’s EA 189 diesel engines. In some instances, a complete recall may not be necessary like the planned action in United Kingdom where a basic repair will be carried out. According to officials, a recall may be the last result if indeed there’s an obvious defect and this can lead to potential injuries of the driver and passengers.
