Clarkson and fellow Top Gear presenter James May were criticised after they were shown on-screen parking their electric cars in a disabled parking bay. The year before, he had offended people with disabilities by describing the Ferrari F430 Scuderia as “a bit wrong … that smiling front end … it looked like a simpleton … [it] should have been called the 430 Speciale Needs”.
