Thai ‘slope’ controversy (March 2014)
The presenter again sparked controversy when he appeared to insult Thai people by using the allegedly racist term “slope”. As a man walked towards himself and Richard Hammond on Thai bridge, he said “That is a proud moment – but there’s a slope on it.” Hammond replied: “You’re right, it’s definitely higher on that side.”
