7. 2017 Chevrolet Volt
At $33, 220 for the base model, the Chevrolet Volt is considered the the model car when it comes to efficiency and dependability. In fact, the Volt has been awarded the 2016 Green Car of the Year by the Green Car Journal. At the core of its road performance is the 1.5-liter direct injected high-efficiency engine, and a backup power source thanks to a battery and gas-powered generator. The result is better flexibility for the driver, allowing Volt owners to drive up to 53 miles using electric, or up to 420 miles on a full charge or full gas tank. Some states even offer the Volt tax incentive, making this car a greener alternative on the road.
