10. 1958 Lotus Elise
Road performance wasn’t much of a problem for the 1958 Lotus Elise. In fact, the Lotus Elise of 1958 was celebrated for its racing pedigree since it was powered by a 75-horsepower Coventry Climax engine. The result was a reliable engine performance that allowed this car to win its category in Le Mans six times. The problem of the 1958 Lotus Elise can be found on the choice of exterior material- fiberglass. The fiberglass was a cool material during the 1950s, but it was too heavy, that it compromised the car’ structural integrity.
