For an average driver, the intent of touching 200mph in a road car might prove to be a crazy idea, however, these supercars can blow you at rumbling speeds more uniquely associated with jet aircraft, though, and you are not legally permitted to drive a car at such outrageous speeds on road.

Hennessey Venom GT (270 mph)

Manufactured by Texas-based Hennessey Performance Engineering and assembled in England, the Venom GT is based on the Lotus Exige at a price tag of $1.25M. Powered by twin turbocharged 427 cu in 7.0 L V8 GM LSX engine, this supercar generates 1,244 bhp (928 kW; 1,261 PS) of power at 6,600 rpm. The Venom GT hit a recorded top speed of 270.49 mph (435.31 km/h) when performed a run at the Kennedy Space Center on February 14, 2014, at only one direction. However, it was not considered legitimate by the Guinness World Records as the top speed for a production car because record attempts usually require two runs done in opposite direction.
